Fall Mixing

I’m no stranger to pattern mixing, but I really have never branched out from the usual polka dots, stripes, and florals. When it comes to geometric designs, I fall quite short. On my weekly Target run, I came across these two pieces. Clearly, they were not meant for each other, but for some reason I couldn’t picture one without the other. Despite my best friends questioning look, I decided this was a good decision. And I must admit, I’m sticking to it.

Pattern mixing can be undeniably brilliant, or nauseatingly wrong (okay there’s definitely the in-betweens too). This pattern mix works because the royal blue present in the top and the skirt. As different as they are, there is a unifying factor that makes sense to those who may be against the mix. Royal blue, cheers to you.
