I’ve learned many things over my 3 years of motherhood, but one of the lighter topics that comes to mind is that not all pajamas are created equal.
We’re not just talking fabric content here — I’m more so leaning into “can I easily get this sleeve over my 6 month old’s tiny hands while he protests and screams at me on the changing table?“
Or — is this fabric soft enough so as to not overstimulate my 3 year old as I beg him to get ready for bed?
And even — “do I love this seasonal print enough to save it for future babies to really get the full use out of it?”
From double-zips to foldable feet, I’ve really paid attention to the pajamas making my life easier this postpartum; the ones that get a permanent spot in the drawer vs the ones I quickly think to donate. I’ve rounded up my favorite brands for my 6 month old and my 3 year old, so let’s get into it!
For the Babies
The pajamas that inspired this post to begin with are these onesies from Hanna Andersson. The amount of stretch in the hands and feet alone have me reaching for them constantly. We only own two pairs of them and I feel myself noticeably disappointed when I realize they’re not in the drawer. My almost 7 month old is still wearing size 0-3 because they are that stretchy.

When the Hanna Andersson pajamas are in the dirty clothes hamper, the next pair of pajamas I’m looking for are these stripe onesies. Now that Cortland is trying his best to army crawl around, I like for his feet to be free so he can grip more easily, but also have the option to cover his toes at night for warmth. These are also nice and thin which make them great for the hot weather we’ve been having. You can use code KBCASHLEY15 for 15% off your purchase.
These Dear Claiborne pajamas are the softest PJs ever, and also the perfect weight for warmer weather. Also, we love supporting a small business!
In My Jammers has the cutest prints, and are nice and soft. They sell out quickly though, so if you see a print you like, act fast.
When I was pregnant with Crew, one of my gfs sent me a onesie from Little Sleepies in size 0-3 and he wore them for months and months beyond that age because they were so stretchy and lightweight.
When I’m shopping at Target I always seek out Carter’s because of their soft options like this stripe pajama and this ribbed pajama.
For the Toddlers
When you enter toddler-land, two piece sets are the only way to go. Especially when they’re potty training. Easy up & down is essential. It also helps for easy middle-of-the-night swaps when accidents happen, because of course they do!
These are a few of my favorite options below; no sacrifices on softness or style, and many of them offer infant sizing as well. We love a matching moment over here!

This Dear Claiborne PJ set was in my first order from her and the pieces that originally hooked me on her brand; SO soft, and I love the print / colors she used.
Caden Lane has some really sweet prints, and again, so soft and stretchy!
If you ever used a Solly Wrap in your early postpartum days, or have crib sheets from Solly, then you’ll love these PJs as well. Both their signature softness and elevated patterns are present in everything they do, which I appreciate.
And finally, a fan favorite among many parents is Magnetic Me, for good reason. The magnetic fronts are especially great with newborns for the quick diaper changes, but toddlers deserve magnetic ease as well! I love these pumpkin PJs — not a corny print, and the colors are ideal. These fall under the category of “keeping for the next baby” without hesitation.
It’s so great to get the blog back up and running after an accidental 3 year sabbatical! Having kids has been the best adventure of my life, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still trying to find the flow between working from home and wanting to be fully present for my kids as much as humanly possible. Combine that with children that don’t really sleep independently, and there’s not very many waking hours to work on certain things where I’m not completely exhausted and depleted.
But we are slowly but surely figuring it out. Just in time to think about when we’ll start trying for our third 😉
ANYWAYS — MISSED YOU, LOVE YOU, TALK TO YOU SOON!!!!
