Geometric Sequins

There’s something about sequins that is slightly enchanting, and utterly enticing. That being said, you know when I came across this Dolce Vita skirt a while back at the Urban Outfitter’s sale, there was no way I would be able to pass it up. We all know there is a fine line between classy and trashy, (I hate to say that out loud, because I’m a huge fan of sparkle…but you know it’s true), however, I thought this skirt was a great example of how sequins can go virtually unnoticed if done correctly. The muted neutral tone, mixed with the thin geometric lines, create a skirt that not only challenges the status quo for sequins by allowing us to use this skirt in a “casual” look, but also allows the sparkle-embellished-skirt to see the light of day, rather than be reserved for an evening look (which is usually where we summon our sequins to stay).

I had fun dramatizing the neon in the skirt by matching up a nearly identically colored top; I recommend this if you want to get lots of looks, questioning your sanity and your ability to see colors properly (I personally love those looks). However, if you want to go under the radar (yes, under the radar with sequins is sometimes possible), I recommend throwing on your favorite white v-neck and calling it casual. You may still get the looks, but it will probably just be people passing, dying to know where you got your fabulous skirt from 😉
