You know when you have a dress or a top that you LOVE but you just can’t quite figure out how to style it and make it work exactly how you want it to? Well, that’s what happened to me with this little gem.
This drop waist dress is the softest dress you will ever come across, and the over-sized drop-waist silhouette is so perfect for a casual look. I can think of at least 5 pairs of shoes I own that would go so well with it! The main problem I had when styling this was my height. I was just too dang short for the length of it — the style just sort of ate me up.
To make an attempt at retaining the cute detail of the drop-waist, and not spend $$ on any type of altering, I decided to wear a neutral belt high on my waist and simply pull the excess fabric through the belt to sort of hide it. This allowed me to manipulate not only the shape, but also the length! (To make the dress appear more drop-waisted, I could simply pull at the hemline to regain more length from the excess fabric I belted up…amazing!) It ended up being PERFECT for layering over my favorite windowpane blouse.
