We are officially back from Santa Barbara & Hawaii and settling into MARRIED LIFE.
So crazy to write that! And so crazy how quickly both the wedding and the each trip went by.
It’s interesting to look at how much we’ve adapted to travel since we’ve been FILLING our year with quick trips. We’ve gotten our packing down to a science. Especially since we love to save as much money as possible when traveling, aka a carry-on is the most ideal if we can swing it. Space is also an issue when we take one of our cars, so regardless of HOW we travel, we’re always trying to maximize space.
After 28 trips this year and counting, I quickly learned what I absolutely need to pack, and what could stay at home. Though I am very often the definition of an over-packer, I’m happy to say I am changing my ways (slowly but surely).
It’s no secret that the key is to pack things that can be multi-functional, but also compact enough to stuff into your bag. Sort of how I wore the same sneakers the entire time I was in D.C.! They worked with every outfit, but were so cute that I didn’t even mind wearing them the entire time lol. It all comes down to packing efficiently without sacrificing style. How to accessorize without overpacking is the balance we’re looking for.
This year I’ve really developed a love for backpacks – it helps that they’ve also continued to get cuter as the trend proves that it isn’t going anywhere. But what really drives it home is the functionality!
I have a handful of backpacks now, and one of my favorite features that I hadn’t put much thought into prior to owning one that did this is a backpack that can go from a crossbody, to a backpack. (Wow – say backpack one more time!!!!)

It goes back into being functional, but also easy to switch up for different looks! You can wear it on your back during the day / throughout travel and errands, and then throw it crossbody when you want to dress up for dinner or a night out.
