Where We Went: Bluestone Lane

I know a lot of bloggers and readers alike love a good city guide post, and as much as I aspire to be that motivated…at the end of the day, I’m just not.

When it comes to travel, I LOVE discovering new places, but for whatever reason it’s hard for me to stick to someone else’s guide book.

Now, don’t get me wrong – these guides are AMAZING, and I completely admire the work that goes into them. When I’m planning a trip somewhere I’ve never been, I myself look them up to get an idea of what other bloggers enjoyed most. I’ve finally realized, though, that despite the suggestions and recommendations I read about, I almost always end up doing my own thing once I’m at my new destination.

One of the best parts of traveling is discovering the newness of a city you’ve never been to before; whether it be the shops, the restaurants, the culture, and the hidden gems in between.

So as much as I love the idea of sticking to a perfectly planned out itinerary, it’s just not realistic for how my indecisive-self operates.

Which is why I decided to start this new series on the blog called Where We Went. Brennan and I love trying new places, and I always find myself talking about them to friends and family after we’ve had a chance to try it out for ourselves.

Not only do we enjoy new spots, but we also have an extensive list of tried-and-true go-to spots that we recommend to anyone that comes to visit LA.

Whether it’s a new coffee shop in our neighborhood, a restaurant on an impromptu San Francisco road trip, or a new spot in his hometown in Minnesota, we’re always just wandering with no particular plan and no particular time schedule.

SO – instead of sharing city guides and travel guides with you guys ( for now at least ) I’m going to stick to short, efficient recaps of where Brennan and I went!

Bluestone Lane

We recently decided to try out a spot that opened up on Rose Ave. near our house ( a street with AMAZING places – Venice Beach Wines, Rose Cafe, Groundwork Coffee Co, just to name a few favorites ), which is how this blog series was born!

Bluestone Lane is an Australian-style eatery that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. What’s funny is that they already have multiple locations near us, but it wasn’t until this location opened that we discovered it ( if you live in LA, then this won’t surprise you – every bubble has its go-to locations, and it takes a LOT for us to venture elsewhere ).

Not only are their interior and exterior decor styles major home goals, but their menu is full of Australian inspired dishes that are sure to please any palate.

I ordered the Brekkie Bowl which is perfect for anyone who is indecisive – you get a half portion of the Collective granola and half portion of the avocado smash. Brennan ordered the Brekkie Burrito and Aussie Iced Latte which is a double shot of espresso poured over whole milk and ice cream ( YUM ).

We went to Bluestone Lane on a Monday morning for breakfast and it was pretty empty most of the time we were there; I can’t confirm what the situation is like for lunch or dinner, but I do have friends that frequent the spot for happy hour / drinks and have a blast.

I hope you enjoyed the first segment of Where We Went! I have a few other spots I’ve been wanting to share with you guys, and if Brennan continues to come up with spontaneous trips ( which is part of his DNA, so I don’t see that changing anytime soon ) then there’s sure to be many more spots to come!

PS: Bluestone Lane is currently in San Francisco, Washington DC, NYC, LA, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania!
