Small Businesses You Can Support

With the extreme physical distancing that’s happening right now, tensions are high as many of us wonder what is to come for our financial stability.

Though I speak from experience that being a business owner is one of the most gratifying things I’ve ever experienced, I can also vouch for the fact that it’s also an unsettling feeling to be the one in charge of what happens next. Especially when that “control” gets taken from you overnight.

The silver lining is that our postal systems are still operating, for now, as usual. Meaning most things are still shipping if warehouse conditions allow.

The rate I’ve been receiving packages has not yet decreased, which tells me there’s still plenty of opportunity for brands to get their products out there (for the most part).

This weekend I had a follower reach out to me regarding her mom’s small business – she expressed her mother’s fear for the coming weeks and asked that I share her information to encourage my community to shop from her.

This small request made me realize how vital it is to band together and support one another, especially now that we know this “social distancing” is here to stay for at least the next month.

One of my favorite parts about my work is being introduced to brands I would never know of unless I was in this industry. From the beginning, it’s been the small businesses and local boutiques that have supported me in my own journey, so now it’s my turn to support them.

I’m going to share as many that I can think of / my community has shared with me via IG, and I encourage you to check them out while you’re stuck inside brainstorming your next purchase, or prepping for that upcoming birthday gift you won’t be able to exchange in person. Ship your grandma something special, show your siblings some love, remind your parents how important it is to shop small. However you can show these people love, I encourage you to do so <3
