7 Reasons You Should Eat Pomegranate Seeds Every Single Day

So I’ve been eating pomegranate seeds since I was a little girl. Like we’re talking 1st grader status here.

I even remember scaling my friend (and now sometimes photographer) Leanna’s brick wall while we ate them one summer. We were literally just walking around the perimeter of her family’s home, on top of this massive wall, plucking out pomegranate seeds just talking about 1st grader things. I even remember her telling me NOT to get the pomegranate juice on my clothes because it stains and would never come out LOL. Worrying about clothes since day ONE.

ANYWAYS.

Since I can remember I’ve just loved pomegranate seeds.

It wasn’t until I saw Lauryn from The Skinny Confidential put them into one of her mocktail recipes that I started experimenting with them myself!

My favorite thing to do is put cold pomegranate seeds into my Pellegrino sparkling water with big ice cubes (which is essentially her mocktail, but I just haven’t gotten around to inserting the other ingredients she includes) and eat them after I’m done with the water!

Last night I was sipping on my Pomegranate Seed Water and I started wondering WHY pomegranate seeds were a thing. Did they have any benefits? Were they actually doing anything for me?

The question is YES. YES YES YES YES YES.

In fact, there are SEVEN KEY BENEFITS, including a LIFE-SAVING one, according to Dr. Axe. AKA: MAKE THESE LITTLE MIRACLE SEEDS APART OF YOUR EVERDAY LIFE ASAP!

+ Reduce Arthritis & Joint Pain – Arthritis is an inflammation of one or more joints, which causes pain and stiffness that can worsen with age. Pomegranates are a source of antioxidants called flavonols, which act as anti-inflammatory agents in the body. SO pomegranates are a great natural arthritis remedy!

+ Natural Aphrodisiac – Apparently pomegranate juice is where it’s at if you’re looking for something to increase testosterone levels; it’s also connected to positive effects on blood pressure and mood. All this to say – it can lead to an increased sexual desire.

+ FIGHT CANCER – that’s right…pomegranate seeds help FIGHT CANCER. More and more research is showing that these powerful little seeds are a potent cancer-fighting food. Pomegranate juice and extracts have been shown to exert anti-tumor effects on various types of cancer cells like breast cancer and prostate cancer.

+ Lower Blood Pressure – also HUGE. For me at least; at the ripe age of 24 I realized that high blood pressure was just something I was going to have to live with and monitor constantly. Coming from parents who BOTH have it, it didn’t come as a shock to me. Luckily, there are so many ways to control it! Pomegranate seeds being one of them. The juice from the seeds contain different types of antioxidants and bioactive polyphenols that have been reported to promote cardiovascular health, including healthy blood pressure levels.

+ Fight Bacterial Infections – Since they have SO MANY therapeutically beneficial components, pomegranate extracts have been used since ancient times to treat endless amounts of conditions. They have been suggested to stimulate probiotic bacteria (the GOOD bacteria that you want in your body because it’s amazing for your digestive system and overall health, which is why I drink Health-Ade once a week at least! Pink Lady Apple is my jam) thus enhancing their beneficial effects at fighting bacterial infections.

+ Improve Heart Health – everyone strives for a healthy heart. So, start by embracing the healing power of pomegranate seeds! Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US; pomegranate juice may block or slow the buildup of cholesterol in the arteries of people who have a higher risk of getting a heart disease.

+ IMPROVE MEMORY – have you ever gone to another room to grab something only to completely for get why you went in there in the first place? Or have you been like “oh I need to grab the cold brew from the fridge” and go and open up a cabinet that holds your plates? (I hope that’s not just me because when it happens I literally feel like I’m going insane psycho). WELL – integrate these powerful little seeds into your diet to embrace all the goodness the polyphenols can bring you. They’re also said to delay or slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

ISN’T THAT AMAZING?!??! Who knew these tiny seeds did SO MUCH GOOD FOR YOU AND YOUR BODY!!!!

The best part is that grocery stores are completely aware at how annoying it is to de-seed your own pomegranate, so they’re selling packages of JUST pomegranate seeds now! AKA there’s NO excuse on integrating these little miracle workers into your diet in some way.
