AIRBNB’S I WANT TO VISIT IN 2021

My Airbnb Wishlist is always growing – sometimes I browse Airbnb just for fun because I’m board and want to “window shop” some dreamy spots. Since travel within the US is the most reasonable for the upcoming year, I thought I’d walk you guys through our travel plans for the next few months!

It’s safe to say that travel in 2020 looked extremely different than any of us could have ever imagined.

Brennan and I started our year off in Australia celebrating our honeymoon and vowed to make 2020 the year of international travel. Well…you know how that went.

Though it was excruciating sitting at home all year, dreaming of roaming the streets of Paris or lounging on the Amalfi coast, 2020 opened my eyes to the beauty that is available to us right in our own backyards.

Seeing as our international plans were put on the backburner for the foreseeable future, instead of sitting around our apartment, we decided to get creative while still playing it safe.

In July 2020 Brennan and I sold our belongings, let go of our lease in Marina Del Rey, and hit the road for Minnesota. We didn’t book a single spot; we simply relied on last minute bookings on Airbnb to guide us through the trip. No agenda and no expectations. I highly recommend doing a trip like that at least once in your life. It’s how we did our honeymoon too, and it made it so much fun not knowing where we were headed next.

Our road trip was SO incredible from start to finish; I finally saw places that had been on my bucket list for years, and fell in love with cities that weren’t even on my radar (hello Jackson Hole, Wyoming).

Yes, 2020 was rough, but it absolutely opened my eyes to embracing the unexpected. Though I’d hoped to travel all over Europe in 2020, I got to discover places that are more readily available to me in the US with my husband and we had a BLAST.

Since the upcoming year is still so unknown, I’ve already been proactive in scouting out new places I’ve never been but have wanted to go. My Airbnb wishlist is growing.

True to form, our trips will be last minute, spur-of-the-moment kind of trips, so it’s helpful to just have a loose idea of where we could book if we decide we’re in need of a getaway. Since I haven’t been to most of the cities and states below, I wasn’t tied to any given area in particular. I just filtered “Airbnb Plus” and “Superhost” to find dreamy spots, and even looked through Airbnb’s unique stays. If you want to know how we book last minute trips on the go, I wrote about it here.

Brennan and I fully support masking and keeping ourselves and other safe during this pandemic, which is why Airbnb was huge all throughout 2020 for us; each location provides a contact-less check in, and a home-away-from-home feel where we can simply quarantine in new surroundings.

It’s been amazing for our itch to travel, and to support our mental health!

Having a list saved on my Airbnb profile (aka my Airbnb wishlist) of future stays will make travel that much easier if we know where we want to explore next.

Below are my top selections! What are your travel plans in 2021?
