SELF ISOLATION AS SELF-CARE, AND OTHER BEAUTY MUSINGS

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pantene. Today’s topic is my self-care routine, but first I’d love to get serious for a minute.

Wherever you’re at today when you find this blog, I hope that you’re doing okay. The news updates are on loop spitting out facts, dates, uncertainties and attempts at reassuring us all. Though it feels heavy, and it is, I think there is an underlying beauty in the heartache.

First and foremost, I pray that you and your family, friends, loved ones, neighbors – are all safe, healthy, fed & sheltered. I hope that you are feeling hope through all of this and know that this too shall pass. Despite the complexities of your job, the fear of getting sick, and the questions we wake up with daily – I hope that you can take this time to love on yourself.

When I asked my Instagram community what content they wanted to see this month, I got an overwhelming mix of “self-care routine, beauty products, tutorials” and “favorite loungewear + sweat sets.” What I got from that was that we’re all on the same page – now is the time to rest, reset, and refocus.

Whether that be with your eating habits, workout habits, skincare routine, haircare routine…or maybe you haven’t quite figured out what isolation looks like for you, I hope that I can provide a positive platform for you to turn to during this unique time we (the WORLD) have together.

Isn’t that crazy?! For, dare I say, the first time in history, the entire world is asked to pause. To really think of others first, isolate themselves, take care of their health…to just stop.

We’re all in this together. Doing this together. Experiencing the highs and lows…together.

Though I think it is hugely important to continue spreading awareness of COVID-19 in ways that we can all pitch in to help those in need, I also want to provide a momentary escape for you.

As I’ve been slowly but surely cleaning every single square inch of my apartment, I’ve also made it a point to be okay with stillness. Sleeping in WAY past my alarm, doing nothing but sitting in the sunshine, reading a book instead of answering emails. Whatever slowing down looks like to you, go with it. It’s so good for the soul and will only re-energize you for when you need to be ON & ready to go.

One of my favorite things to really take my time on is my self-care routine.

self isolation

I’ve started paying way more attention to what my body, skin & hair respond well (& not so well) to. I’ve also started researching more about ingredients that will help me achieve the results I’m in search of.

Take for instance hair growth & repair.

An ingredient I started incorporating around 6 months ago was castor oil. Straight up castor oil. I put it in my hair before bed (typically the night before I wash my hair because it’s very dense and usually makes my hair look greasy) for a number of reasons. “Castor oil is said to moisturize the scalp, ease dandruff, and leave your hair smooth and shiny. When applied to the scalp, it’s purported to enhance the health of the hair follicles and, in turn, promote hair growth (as well as protect against hair loss).”

Hair growth and strength are pretty much at the top of my wish list when it comes to results. And though it’s pretty easy to put pure castor oil on my hair every few days, I knew there had to be an easier way.

That’s where Pantene comes in.

I recently discovered the Nutrient Blends Collection and realized they had THE solution to all my castor oil woes.

The Nutrient Blends Fortifying Damage Repair with Castor Oil Shampoo + Conditioner is exactly what I was after.

how to make my hair grow

It’s a gentle duo I can use daily that is free of sulfates, parabens dyes, & mineral oils. The fragrance is SO invigorating and refreshing, and it’s full of pro vitamin B5, antioxidants and castor oil. The formula is meant to strengthen and smooth resilient hair and leave it feeling healthier than ever.

Can you think of a better time to incorporate a shampoo & conditioner like this into your daily self-care routine? I think not.

Not sure about you, but my isolation plans include lots of self-care. A huge part of that will consist of relaxing hot showers with my new MVP Pantene Fortifying Damage Repair shampoo & conditioner paired with lots of air drying to let my hair really relax during this time of stillness. And you can bet that 90% of the time I will be enjoying this routine in an endless cycle of sweat sets 😉
