It’s been a minute since I did a sale round-up but I’ve found myself flocking to Shopbop a LOT this year when I want to buy something actually worth my money so I thought it would be beneficial to loop you guys into what I’ve been eyeing these last few months!
When 2018 started I made a vow to myself that I would stop wasting my hard earned money on items at fast-fashion retailers simply to get a shopper’s high. Instead, I want to actually save up and invest in key pieces that I will love for a long time. Even if that means being one of those people that spends an absurd amount of money on a t-shirt.
I’m speaking from ACTUAL experience here because I wear this tshirt at least 3 times a week and it’s the most expensive tshirt I’ve ever owned.
Same with this pair of denim; it was a splurge, but they’re now among my favorite pairs of jeans.
These two items were pricey, but I’ve worn them WAY more times than any of the cheaply made items in my closet that I purchased to fill whatever void needed filling at the time. To me, that alone is worth the investment and a clear indication that I do not need to be wasting my money on items I won’t appreciate months down the road.
Prior to 2018 starting, I actually went on a shopping hiatus in November/December and it really helped me kick the habit.
It was basically like a shopping detox if you will.
I (finally) realized how much more rewarding it was to see the money in my bank account rather than staring at those $20 tops hanging in my closet that I never even wanted to wear anymore.
SURE, this sounds like common knowledge and a basic practice of all responsible adults, but I can definitely say that I have a serious shopping addiction (LOL) and I needed to get myself in check STAT. I have a lot to learn when it comes to saving, but this is the start to my journey.
Fast forward to today and I find myself putting things down while out shopping because I don’t really need much. That is HUGE for me!!!!!
You came to this blog to see what I think you should spend your hard earned money on TOO, so below I’ve linked things that I consider some core wardrobe additions.
The Levi’s denim jacket, for example, is something I just added to my wardrobe and I LOVE IT.
In December I was the not-so-proud owner of 4 denim jackets that I NEVER wore because they didn’t fit me correctly and weren’t that comfortable. So I never found myself grabbing them from my closet, but always loved seeing girls sport their cute denim jackets.
After getting rid of the denim jacket rejects in my closet and saving the money for a denim jacket I would actually love, I finally stumbled on my Levi’s jacket that I had no buyer’s remorse for because it was actually worth the price.
I’ve worn it more than any other denim jacket after just owning it for a week. That’s saying something.
Moral of this blog post
I truly believe the pieces below are things that you will be proud to own, will last for a while, and you’ll get your use out of them.
YES, you may look at some of the prices and be deterred from pulling the plug, but think about how many $20 jumpsuits you can pass up because you have that one beautiful jumpsuit hanging in your closet that you invested in that is just SO good for every occasion.
Better on your bank account, and probably way cuter than that $20 one anyways.
I also threw in some home decor because I go onto Shopbop weekly just to browse what they have and get inspiration for what I’m looking for.
Their pieces are unique and not a terrible price point for quality home decor, and they have a great selection of coffee table books.
I consider all of the items I linked conversation starters that will add that touch to your place that makes it feel like home.
HAPPY SHOPPING MY LOVES!
